Sightseeing Tip:
Explore Koh Samui's mountains and interior. Discover unrevealed
attractions and hidden natural treasures. You can easily ascend to Samui's higher elevations by car or motorbike following the asphalt
road from Ban Saket at the Western shore.
The island's highlands are
covered by orchards and coconut groves. You will find an amazing
variety of tropical plants, fruit, flowers and orchids.
Take in the fantastic
views from the hilltops and mountain peaks. Enjoy an unforgettable
island panorama of Koh Samui with green valleys, golden beaches and an
endless azure sea.
Look for the sign-post for
"Ta-Nim Magic Garden". On foot you will
descend into a ravine washed out by an enchanting creek and waterfall.
Its rocky banks are lined with charmed collection of stone statues depicting mythical
creatures from Thai ancient tales. Spend some time in the cool shade and
freshness of the flowing water. The longer you explore the banks of the
little creek and waterfall the more sculptures you may find.
A trip to the mountain is a truly rewarding diversion from the daily
beach and hotel pool routine.
Note: Thai Air Force operates a radar station on top of Samui's
highest peak. The access
road from Ban Saket is
patrolled by air-force personnel. You will pass through a military check-point and
find a steep, but well built and maintained asphalt road, open for
public access except for a clearly marked restricted area around the
radar tower. |
